The Giant Killer, revisited….

Soon, very soon, I could be working as a visual arts teacher for an inner-city school system. It’s a dream of mine to teach art to kids with emotional/behavioral problems and  that dream could very well be coming true. Yet, I can’t help feeling like I’ll be going off to fight Goliath of Gath everyday. My hope and prayer is for the Spirit of the Lord to be with me and upon me. I covet your prayers as well. There are many hurtles yet to overcome before I get to the classroom. Documentation, interviews, etc., etc…. Yet my heart tells me I am on the right path, and my sense of excitement is building. Please pray for me to be courageous and fight the good fight.

I dug this painting out of the mothballs because it’s where all of this started and, it is still the vision that drives me on. As David said:

“You come to me with a sword,  a spear , and a javelin. But , I come to you in the Name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the Armies of Israel…!” 1 Samuel 17:45

God gave me a scripture 20 years ago and it’s how I got my name. It’s from the first Chapter of the Book of Jeremiah:

” Everywhere I send you you shall go, and all that I tell you you shall say. Do not be afraid of them for I am with you to deliver you.” says Yahweh the Lord of armies (hosts).  Jeremiah 1:7,8

Let it be said of me “Behold I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me; I delight to do thy will Oh my God.” Psalms 40:7,8

This painting is my favorite. It is what started my dream of painting biblical scenes in a new and fantastic way. Praise the Lord for this report of how God is leading. Praying for this and prayers of thanks for your artwork!

Praise God that we don’t have to be satisfied with a “Hallmark” version of Biblical scenery.
